Nikki Whitlock

Chapter 1(Jasper’s POV)

I was on the couch, watching T.V when I felt Alice stiffen up next to me. I knew she was getting a vision and turned my attention towards her.

“YOU HAVE A SISTER!” She suddenly screeched and I threw my hands over my ears.

“A sister?” Bella’s soft, probing voice caught my attention. I turned towards her and Edward on the love seat, her perched on Edwards lap and his pale arms around her. He looked confused as well.

“Well, you see, her name is, WAS, Nikki. She was everything to me and I hated myself for leaving her. She was kind of like a mix of Bella, Rose, and Alice.” I smiled, remembering my sister. I told them everything about her, all of the stories I had.

“But I’m sure she’s dead now. That was a while ago. She was 16.” I sighed and Alice put her hand on my shoulder. I turned towards her and she was bouncing up and down on the couch.

“But she’s not! I just had a vision of her meeting up with you soon!” Alice said excitedly. WHAT!?

Chapter 2(Nikki’s POV)

“I JUST CAN’T DO IT!” I screeched, throwing down the ingredients for the poison.

“You’ll get it.” Avery said wisely.

“No, I have to go find my brother! I know he’s out there somewhere, I just know it!” I turned towards Avery, my witch instructor. You see, I’m a witch, hundreds of years old in a 16 year olds body. Avery was about 450 years old, but he’s in a 25 year olds body.

“Then go, go find your brother. I’ll be here if you want to come back.” Avery said, gesturing to the door and smiling at me. I grinned at him and ran out the door.

“Wait!” He called running after me, then pulled me in for a hug. I threw my arms around him. He slipped something into the backpack on my back. I smiled knowingly at him and ran down the street. I ran to the airport and opened my bag. In my bag was an airplane ticket for Forks, WA, a note from Avery and a bottle of…POISON!? I opened the note and read it.

Nikki,

I hope you find your brother. I know that you want to start in small towns, so I took the liberty of buying you a plane ticket to Forks, Washington, a small town about and hour and a half out of Seattle. I also put a few hundred dollars in the small zipper pocket and a bottle of poison. I know you don’t approve of using poisons and potions that harm people, but just in case, I packed some. Tell them its water, if they ask. BE SAFE! I love you like a sister.

Love, Avery

I started sniffling and felt tears prick at my eyes, but the plane was boarding. I handed them my ticket and shuffled into the small plane. I found seat 3B, the seat I was assigned to, and there was a woman with Carmel colored hair was next to me. I smiled at her as I sat down.

“Hello.” She greeted, smiling warmly at me. I saw right through the contacts she was wearing, not literally of course, and saw the butterscotch eyes. I smiled back at her.

“Hello. I’m Nikki! Nikki….Winston!” I thought up a last name, fast. She saw right through me.

“I’m Esme Cullen, what’s your real last name?” She asked, looking around to make sure no one was listening.

“Er, Eh, Um, Whitlock.” I finally confessed, looking at my hands. I heard her sharp intake of breath.

“What did you say?!” She asked, suddenly talking in a whisper.

“Whitlock?” I said, confused. She swallowed loudly, though I knew that she didn’t have to, she is a vampire after all.

“Did you have a brother named Jasper?” She asked me. I nodded, narrowing my eyes at her.

“Your brother, he’s…he’s alive. He’s…” She started, but I interrupted her.

“A vampire, yeah, I know.” I said, looking at her calmly. She nodded and I saw that she was really confused.

“I know about all the mythical creatures you can think of. Gnomes, Trolls, Werewolves, Unicorns. You name it, I know it.” I didn’t mention witches though, in fear that she did not know that witches were real.

“What are you?” She whispered. Suddenly, there was a rustling in my backpack.

“Let me out!” I heard a small, childlike voice. I unzipped my backpack and Hailey’s head popped out, her honey blonde hair fanning out on either side of her head in one mess.

“Hailey, what are you doing?!” I hissed lowly, glancing at Esme out of the corner of my eyes as she stared adoringly at Hailey. Hailey was my younger sister. She was also a witch, but she was still growing. She was 12.

“Avery sent me!” She hissed back as I pulled a brush from the front pocket and started brushing her messy hair. I finally gave up and put it in pigtails, taming the mess, for the moment. I pushed her head back down and zipped up my backpack as the voice over the speaker said it was time to land. It was a bumpy landing and I finally climbed out, stretching my stiff legs. I followed Esme.

“Will you take us to our brother, please?” I begged as I rounded a corner to take Hailey out of my backpack. I straightened out her clothes.

“Yes.” Esme said, and we followed her to wait out front. I was fidgeting nervously and there were butterflies in my stomach. A huge off-road jeep pulled up and Esme climbed into the front. I stared up at the jeep before lifting Hailey into the back and starting to get in. Suddenly, I was pulled down and there was an arm around my throat. Hailey started screaming and I could barely make out the words.

“SHAWN! SHAWN STOP! SHAWN STOP IT! NO!” She was screaming. I struggled and my vision became tunnel vision when suddenly Shawn was hit and I floundered away, wheezing and trying to get my breath back.

“WHAT THE HELL SHAWN!” I screeched turning towards him as he stood up.

“What are you doing!? Did Avery send you here with these…these…leeches?! I don’t think he would do that!” Shawn shouted.

“I came on my own, Avery said I could go. You should probably go back.” I said, calming down. He nodded and stalked away as I turned towards the person who had hit Shawn.

“Thanks.” I said. It was a huge burly guy with a head of curly black hair.

“Your welcome, but what are you doing?” He asked, gesturing towards Hailey.

“We’re Esme’s distant, distant nieces.” I said, praying Esme to play along. She nodded and I climbed into the jeep next to Hailey with the dude went to the drivers side.

“I’m Emmet.” He said as we were driving down the highway.

“I’m Nikki and this is Hailey Whitlock.” I said, then slapped my hand over my mouth as Hailey’s head snapped towards me. He slammed on the brakes and pulled over, then turned to look at me.

“You’re Jasper’s sister!?” He asked. I nodded and pulled my hand off of my mouth.

“He only mentioned one sister.” He said, staring at Hailey.

“He doesn’t know her.” I said. Then his gaze turned astonished.

“How are you still alive?!” He practically screamed. I turned towards Hailey and we nodded at each other.

“We’re witches.” We said in unison. He looked confused. I sighed and began to tell him the story.

“Witches live forever. There is a certain age, they don’t get to pick it, but then we stop growing at that age. I’m over 100 years old, but I look 16. I’m stuck being 16 forever, sort of like a vampire.” I explained. He had pulled back on, and now we were turning onto an invisible drive. The butterflies in my stomach came more pronounced as I hopped out and held my arms out to Hailey, who jumped into my arms and I carried her up to the porch. I took a deep breath as Esme opened the door. I stepped into the cool house and saw the back of Jasper’s head. There was a pixie like girl sitting across from him at the table. She squealed and I backed up, flattening myself against the door as Hailey jumped down from my arms and did the same. I was breathing through my nose, flaring my nostrils and looking around with wide eyes, sort of like a scared animal. Esme stepped towards me and I flattened myself even more. She reached out to me.

“DON’T TOUCH ME!” I suddenly burst out and pressed myself as much as I could against the wall. She slowly pulled her hand back. I felt the calm trying to penetrate me, but I made my walls stronger. Hailey didn’t have that kind of strength and she relaxed and perched on the counter next to a brunette girl with delicate features, sort of porcelain.

“Nikki…” Esme’s soft voice brought me back to the present. I could feel someone probing my mind, poking at it and I snarled at the bronze haired boy, who was the mind reader. He quickly withdrew from my head.

“Nikki, calm down.” Jasper’s soft, but strong voice floated into my ears. Almost automatically, my tense muscles relaxed.

“Nikki, here!” Hailey chirped and I could see her mouth moving as she cast a spell. Suddenly, I felt very calm. I perched on the counter next to Hailey.

“Thanks.” I whispered. She nodded and I looked at my brother, memorizing every scar on his face, every line, every single detail.

“What happened to you?” I whispered, barely audible to my ears, but very audible to his. He walked up to me very slowly and pulled me off of the counter into his arms. I should be jumping for joy, doing a victory dance, but instead I burst into tears. He hugged me tighter, so tight that it cut into my back and arms, but I didn’t care.

When my crying jag was over, I sat down on the couch stiffly next to the bronze haired boy.

“How come I can’t smell you?” Jasper asked me after a minute of uncomfortable silence. The bronze haired boy sniffed too and looked confused.

“Well, I put a spell on Hailey and me.” I replied. Jasper cocked his head in confusion.

“Spell?” The girl with porcelain features asked, obviously confused. The bronze haired boy smiled at her and pecked her on the cheek.

“Yeah. I’m a witch.” I confessed.

“Uh-hum!” Hailey cleared her throat. I rolled my eyes as she hopped down from the counter, but stumbled as she got down. I was over there in a flash with a speed spell, steadying her. She rolled her eyes.

“Are you okay?” I asked immediately. A life of danger had taught me to not be stingy with my concern.

“I can’t do anything without you being worried.” She muttered, but I could see the understanding in her gaze. “I’m fine.” She replied after a minute of me staring at her. Suddenly, a small girl with the same odd bronze hair as the boy and beautiful brown eyes as the porcelain girl ran down with a large man in tow. As soon as he saw me, he froze and our eyes met. He had no emotion in them as he stared coldly at me. Suddenly, his face scrunched up and he started shaking

“Hailey, leave.” I muttered. She complied immediately, running out the front door as I stood staring at the full grown wolf.

“Jake?” the little girl asked. He growled and lunged at me. We went flying through the glass wall and into the backyard. I gasped as he bit into my shoulder and he whimpered as I shot a small bolt of lightning at him. He pulled back and I took my moment. I rolled out from under him and back up, my hands glowing.

“JAKE STOP!” Jasper screamed, flying at him. I could see the fury as he bowled into the wolf, Jake. Jake let out a squeal and leaped away, turning back into a human.

“Jacob Black, You…you…you…” I couldn’t finish my sentence, I was laughing too hard and so was Jake. I walked up to him and slapped him in the chest.

“That was too good! We really had you going!” Jake laughed.
