A and A

Prologue (Andi’s POV)

Flashback

“Mom!” I whined as she watched from the doorway. “Age 13 is a very fragile, unstable age! Why are you making me do this?!” I asked her.

“Because, Andi, you have to go to school.” She said as I slung my backpack over my shoulder.

“Ugh! Fine, but when I come home crying in freakish misery, it’ll be your fault!” I exclaimed, stomping out the door and down the street to my new middle school.

“I love you, honey!” She called after me. I raised my hand in a goodbye gesture as I turned to face this new school.

I looked down at my new converse as I trudged towards the entrance. Suddenly, I was shunted to the ground.

“Oh my god, I’m so sorry!” The person exclaimed. It was a guy. I looked up and my eyes locked onto his blue ones. He looked different than the rest of the preps in this freaking school.

“No no, it’s my fault. I should watch where I’m going.” I said, shoving my things into my bag, “I’m Andi.” I said, sticking my hand out.

“Ironic. I’m Andy.” He laughed. I giggled as he shook my hand.

“Well, Andy, I think we’re going to be great friends.” I said.

End Flashback

That was the first time I had ever met Andrew Biersack. We became very close. We were practically inseparable. We became known as A and A. We never did anything without each other. Then came that fateful day. Andy had to move away. He moved to Hollywood where he became famous. He forgot that little old town in Ohio and he forgot me.

Chapter 1(Andy’s POV)

“Andy, guess what?!” Sandra came running up to me, bouncing on the balls of her feet.

“Hmmm?” I asked her absentmindedly.

“We got a new assistant.” She said. I glanced up from my crossword puzzle.

“Interesting. Girl or guy?” I asked her.

“Girl. Her name is Andrea. She has long, light blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She’s beautiful!” she said.

Light blonde hair? Bright blue eyes? That sounds like Andi. Like my Andi! But it couldn’t be. She’s still in Ohio. The thought made me sad. I blinked the moisture away from my eyes and flung my pen down, pulling at my hair.

“Crosswords were never your thing, Andy.” I heard a girl’s voice. My head shot up and my eyes locked onto the bright blue ones of my best friend.

“ANDI!” I shouted, sweeping her into a hug. She giggled and wrapped her arms around my neck.

“Hey, Andi, I need food. Hurry up, biatch!” A girl shouted from the door. “Whoa. Andi and Andy. God, that’s confusing.” She said.

“Her name is Ducky.” I said indignantly. She laughed.

“God, how do you even remember that?!” she exclaimed, turning to the girl. “You see, I, according to Andy here at least, looked like a duck when I ran so he gave me the nickname Ducky.” She said.

“That’s funny. I have noticed that, though.” She shrugged. “Screw you. I’m going to get food, dammit!” She said, pushing herself off the wall and walking out of the room.

“I have my phone if you need me!” Andi shouted down the hallway.

“K!” the brown haired girl called back, her voice faint as she walked away from us.

“God, it’s been so long!” Andi exclaimed. I nodded and sat down, pulling her down with me. She chuckled, plopping down on my lap. I laughed, bouncing my knees up and down.

“Andy, we need to hurry up and get to that photo shoot. Stop flirting with our new assistant and get your white ass out here!” Jake shouted through the closed door. I chuckled and stood up, dumping Andi on the floor.

“Gasp!” She exclaimed, putting her hand over her mouth before pushing herself up. I chuckled and opened the door. Jake, Jinxx and Sandra tumbled into the room. Andi giggled and leaned over Sandra.

“Whatcha doin?” She asked in a sing song voice before skipping out the door. I heard Ash’s barking laughter as he walked past the doorway.

“I like her.” He exclaimed, chuckling and shaking his head. “And you guys are idiots.”  He said, walking down the hall

“Thanks Ash! Means a lot!” Sandra yelled after him.
“Welcome!” He called back. Sandra rolled her eyes and stood up, dusting herself off. I chuckled and followed him out. I stopped dead when I saw Andi waiting for us on a freaking Ducati!

“What the hell, Andi!” I shouted, speeding over to her and running my hand over the sleek metal. She slapped my hand.

“No touchie!” She exclaimed. “It takes it a long time to get it this shiny.” She said.

“Where the hell did you get this thing?” I asked.

“I bought it.” She shrugged. “I saved up every penny I ever earned and bought it for myself. Call it a…graduation gift.” She said.

“Jesus girl!” I exclaimed. “I’m so jealous!” I yelled. “That was my dream! To buy a Ducati!” I exclaimed.

“You have a fudging Bat mobile, so don’t be complaining!” She exclaimed. I gave her an odd look.

“Fudging?” I asked.

“NOT the point!” She exclaimed, throwing her hands in the air. “The point is, only three types of that car were made in the WORLD and you got one of them, so don’t be complaining about my cool motorized vehicle when you have one RIGHT THERE.” She said, pointing at my Bat Mobile. I shrugged.

“I am merely admiring it. Geez Andi, no need to get all snippety!” I exclaimed. She giggled.

“Whoa whoa whoa! Hold it right there.” Sandra said, waving her hands for dramatic effect. “THIS is the Andi you always tell us about, Andy?” She asked.

“Yes. This is Andrea Marie Sanchez.” I said, nodding my head.

“Oh. OH!” Sandra exclaimed. “Andy always tells us about you and how crazy you were! A real prankster, he said.” She winked.

“Cool!” Jinxx exclaimed. “Pranking is my middle name!” He exclaimed, slapping Jake’s hand. I rolled my eyes and got in my car. Ash, Jake and Jinxx got in and Sandra climbed on the back of Andi’s Ducati. She pulled the helmet on and we were off. As we were driving down the road, Andi pulled up beside me. I rolled down my window.

“Race ya!” She shouted, gunning it. I slammed down on the gas peddle and our speed shot up. It’s not like we were on any main roads and cops weren’t usually down here. I shot past Andi and chuckled when suddenly, she blew past me. Suddenly, I saw her start to swerve in front of me. Jake leaned forward with wide eyes as they suddenly pulled over. Andi got off and took her helmet off, running her hand through her hair before throwing her helmet down.

“SHIT!” She screamed, kicking at the ground and putting her head in her hands. I pulled up behind them and got out.

“Everything ok?” I asked. She looked up at me.

“I can’t do this, Andy. I just can’t…” She trailed off as we all stared at her, expressions of concern plastered on our faces. “I had an accident.” She said, looking at the ground. “I haven’t been the same ever since.” She said, closing her eyes. “I was driving down the freeway. It was night. I was hit from behind. I don’t know what happened. I was disoriented. I passed out and woke up in a hospital. I had surgery on my leg. I can’t do this.” She whispered, sinking to the ground. She continued on, staring straight ahead. “I had to…I had to have a special bike outfitted. Andy…I’m blind.” She said, looking up at me. It was then that I noticed the little flecks of gray in her eyes. I stepped back, shaking my head.

“You can’t…you can’t be blind.” I whispered. Tears fell from her eyes.

“I’m not completely blind…yet. It’s deteriorating. I can see basic shapes. But there’s a cure.” She said. “I can’t afford it.”

“Let me pay.” I said. She shook her head. “Andi, you have to let me pay. Please.” I said.

“You don’t get it!” She screamed at me. “It’s not like that, Andy!” She shouted. “It’s a surgery.” She whispered brokenly. “Only one out of three make it out with their sight back.” She whispered. “I don’t want to go through that alone.” She said, almost imperceptibly.

“You’re not alone…” I started, but she interrupted me.

“Yes I am!” She shouted. “You’re not blind, are you?! Are any of you blind?! Huh?” She asked. “You can see the moon and the stars! You can see the birds and the butterflies. You can see it all!” She screamed. “What can I see? Shadows. Shapes. Darkness.” She said. “That’s it!” She stood up and walked up to me. “That’s it.” She whispered. I took a deep breath and took her hands in mine.

“It doesn’t matter what we can see. You’re never alone. I’ll pay for the surgery and if you don’t make it out with your sight, it’ll be sad, but you’ll live through it with your friends by your side.” I said. She sighed and looked down.

“Fine.” She whispered. I pulled her in for a hug. The rest of my band mates patted her back.

“Can you drive?” I asked her softly. She nodded.

“But no one is riding with me.” She said. “If I get into an accident, I don’t wanna put anyone else’s lives in danger.” She said firmly, pulling her helmet back on and climbing back onto her bike. We all piled into my car and I pulled back onto the road. She followed me. She seemed to be getting along pretty well. I made sure to keep one eye on her at all times. We got to the photo shoot in one piece.

“You are thirty minutes late!” The photographer shouted as we got dragged off to makeup. Andi stayed against the back wall.

“So she’s blind…huh…” Ash said. I nodded silently. “Sorry, man.” He patted my back.

The photo shoot took thirty minutes. When we were finished, we quickly changed and walked back out. Andi was waiting for us in the same spot.

“So pretty.” She giggled. I chuckled, but it sounded forced, even to my ears. She sighed and pulled her helmet on. “I’ll see you guys tomorrow, k?” She asked.

“Yeah!” I said, climbing into my car as she sped to her house. I rested my head on the steering wheel and groaned.

“Tough break, man.” Jinxx said in a piteous voice. I nodded and started up my car with a sigh. I dropped everyone off and went home to do some research on this surgery.

I called her doctor (she had given me his number before we had parted ways) and we talked about the possibility of it.

The next opening was lucky. It was in 2 weeks. We were going to fly out to Colorado where they were going to do the reconstructive surgery. We were leaving in a week.

-One week later, at the airport-

“Flight 349 for Colorado now boarding.” The voice came over the intercom. I glanced at everyone. We grabbed our luggage and waited in line. The line moved forward and as we were walking forward, Andi accidentally ran into someone.

“Sorry sorry! Oh my god, I’m so sorry!” She apologized.

“Watch where you’re going, bitch! Can’t you see that the line stopped? Are you blind or something?” He hissed.

“Hey, buddy, why don’t you turn around before I punch you in the face.” Ash threatened. He scoffed, but complied.

“Thanks Ash.” Andi said softly.

“No problem.” He replied, patting her lightly on the shoulder. We moved forward and finally boarded the plane. As we were walking to our seats, we passed the guy. He stuck his foot out and Andi went flying to the ground.

“Freak!” He chuckled. “Better watch out guys! We got a blind klutz over here!” He called to some buff guys in the back.

Before I could react, Jinxx had pounced. Punches flew, but Jinxx had been in a fight before.

“Break it up!” The stewardess yelled. Jinxx and the guy sprung apart. “Now then, what happened?” She asked through her teeth.

“I was just sitting her, minding my own business when this girl comes up and dumps her water all over me. I told her that that wasn’t nice and her friend her pounced on me.” He said sweetly. Ash laughed loudly.

“She’s blind. He tripped her and then called her a freak. Jinxx was just defending her.” Jake said. We all nodded.

“I saw it.” The guy from across the aisle chimed in. She turned to him.

“What really happened?” She asked him.

“The second story.” He said. The rude guy growled and clenched his fists. The stewardess turned to him.

“I’m going to kindly ask that you please exit the plane and take another one, thank you.” She said. He stood up and shoved through us with his duffel bag. “Are you okay, dear?” The stewardess turned to Andi. Andi nodded.

“I’m fine. Jinxx, are you okay?” She asked.

“I’m good. Not even a scratch on me!” He exclaimed. She giggled and we sat in our seats. Andi was next to Jake. I was next to Jinxx and Sandra and Ash were next to each other.

It was an uneventful plane ride. Andi and Jake seemed to be scheming over something and I was sure that they would get Jinxx in on it.

When we got to the hotel, Andi was acting weird. We got into our room that we were all sharing.

“Guys I think…I think I need to rest.” She breathed. “Something weird is happening.” She said. I helped her to the bed, concern rolling off of me in waves.

“I’ll get some ice.” Jinxx volunteered, then ran down the hall. He came back soon with a bucket of ice.

“Thanks, Jinxx.” I said, reaching my hand in. Whatever was in there was NOT ice. I pulled my hand out to see that it was now blue. I turned to Andi who was biting her cheek, but when Jinxx poked her in the side she burst out laughing.

“That was some of the b-best acting I’ve ever done!” She howled, high-fiving Jinxx and Jake.

“Haha…” I said sarcastically, then went to wash my hand off. It didn’t come off. “Guys?” I called. I didn’t get an answer. “Is this permanent?” I called angrily. When there was no answer, I sprinted into the main room. The window was open. I ran out and looked down. Andi was climbing down the rope. Jinxx and Jake were waiting at the bottom, ready to catch her if she fell. I sprinted angrily down the stairs and outside to see them running down the street. I ran after them. Andi looked back and shrieked.

“RUN FASTER!” She screeched as I gained on them. Suddenly, Andi tripped on an empty beer can on the sidewalk. She shrieked and threw her hands out to catch herself just as my arms wrapped around her waist.

“Are you okay?!” I exclaimed. She nodded as I set her carefully on her feet.
