Slave

Chapter 1(Bella’s POV)

I cried out in pain as my master whipped me more. I gasped as he whipped me harder. This is my life. You see, I’m a slave. My master whipped me often. If either of my brothers, Emmet and Jasper Swan, were here, my parents wouldn’t have sold me. Emmet and Jasper died in a horrible murder. They were both stabbed while out in the forest. It was my fault they had died anyway, and I knew that. I had begged them to go out with me so that I could show them an amazing place I had found. We went out and as we were hiking, a person with a sword jumped out in front of me, behind Jasper and Emmet. I had screamed as the person drew back the sword. Jasper jumped in front of the sword while Emmet pulled me away. I heard Jasper scream, but Emmet wouldn’t let me turn around. Soon, Emmet was picked off and the sword came at me. The person only managed to pierce my shoulder before my father had come. That was just last year. I was sixteen and Emmet and Jasper were seventeen.

“You ungrateful little child. We are selling you again.” He hissed. I silently thanked the gods for my good fortune. He threw me into the cart and we rode to the auction house. He shoved me inside and left.

“Isabella Swan.” The auctioneer called out. The bids started and I was sold for 900 dollars. I was surprised. I wasn’t much of a high bid. I was shoved down the stairs and I tripped over my own feet, but managed to stay upright. A petite, pixie like girl danced up to me and we started walking out. Once we were out of the auction house, she stopped and turned to me. I expected her gaze to be full of hatred, but it was instead very friendly.

“Let’s get those ropes off of your wrists, that must be very uncomfortable.” She said and undid them. I rubbed my raw skin where the ropes had cut in. I heard her say something, too low for normal human ears to hear, but I was used to hearing soft things spoken with my acute hearing.

“Emmet will not be pleased.” She muttered. I shook my head in disbelief. I rushed to open her door and she laughed.

“You don’t have to open my door for me. You’re a maid, not a slave.” She said. My eyes widened. It wasn’t every day that a slave became a maid.

“T-thank you.” I stuttered. She smiled kindly at me.

We arrived at a huge mansion. I climbed out and stared at it in awe. The girl slapped her pale forehead.

“I’m Alice, by the way.” She said. I took her outstretched hand, then curtsied when she took her hand back. She smiled at me and led me inside.

“WE’RE HOME!” She screamed. I covered my ears with my hands. How could someone so tiny have such a loud voice. I removed my hands from my ears. Suddenly, two people who I thought were dead appeared in front of me. They were very pale and looked almost ghostly. It must have been my imagination playing a trick on me.

“E-emmet, J-jasper?” I stuttered.

“Bella, you’re alive.” Jasper said. I shook my head vigorously and took a step back.

“No, no, no, no, you’re dead, you’re both dead.” I said and fell to my knees, sobbing. I felt a pair of arms wrap around me. I immediately recognized them to be Jasper’s. I leaned into him and sobbed into his shoulder.

“Bella, me and Emmet are vampires.”  Jasper said. My sobs stopped abruptly and I looked up into his golden eyes.

“Vampires?” I asked in a small voice. Jasper nodded and his eyes seemed to darken. I quickly pulled away, leaving him kneeling on the floor looking up at me, measuring what my reaction would be.
