Chapter 1(Kat’s POV)
My friends and I were hanging outback of the club that Black Veil Brides was playing at.
“I would totally do that!” I exclaimed, doing my crazy dance. My friends joined in.
“I know right! That would be insane. They would think you were a flipping freak or something.” Nikki laughed.
“I am a freak! And proud, dammit!!” I exclaimed. Krista giggled. I rolled my eyes. “And then, I would like, start running around!” I shouted, waving my hands above my head.
“And we would totally disown you.” Krista said, stepping away from me. I giggled.
“I’m so excited!” Nikki exclaimed, jumping up and down.
“I know right! Not only are we going to see Black Veil Brides in concert, but we get to be the opening band for them!” I exclaimed. Krista nodded just as Cassie pulled up in our old van. She climbed out and pushed the ancient door shut.
“The first thing we’re buying with our newly acquired money is a new fudging van.” Cassie said as we got all of our stuff out. Suddenly, a black van pulled up next to us. It was shiny and had the BVB logo painted on. Krista got distracted just as I was handing her the bass drum down.
“Wow…” She sighed dreamily as BVB got out. My friends and my sister were all staring, mesmerized, at Andy Six. Well, Jake in Cassie’s case.
“Guys, a little help here.” I grunted, trying to pull it back in, but I’m only so strong. “Shit guys, help me dammit!” I shouted. They didn’t turn. Suddenly, the weight was taken. Andy put the drum on the ground. “Thanks!” I panted.
“No prob.” He replied. I stood up and turned to my band mates.
“Thanks for the help guys.” I said, sarcasm dripping off of me. I pulled out everything else and dropped them on the ground.
“You guys must be Unconnected, our opening band.” Andy said. I nodded, jumping down. I closed the doors, wincing when it creaked.
“We seriously need a new van.” Cassie said, pulling herself out of her stupor. I nodded.
“I’m Kat. That’s Cassie, Krista and Nikki.” I said, sticking my hand out for him to shake. He shook it and a tingle ran up my arm. He must’ve felt it too because he pulled his hand back with an odd expression on his face. They introduced themselves.
“Unconnected, you’re on in five.” Some dude poked his head out the back door. We lugged all of our stuff in and got set up. I walked up to the microphone.
“Hey guys, how y’all doing tonight?” I asked. I heard girls screaming everywhere. “That’s good. I know we’re not BVB. How excited are you guys to see them?” The screams were deafening. I laughed. “I am too. The only thing we ask is that you guys listen to at least one of our songs.” I chuckled and we played. We played our hearts out and we got screams. I was surprised, to say the least. “Thanks for listening. We really appreciate us, but we’ll get off the stage now and let BVB set up. Thanks!” I waved and brought my guitar back, massaging my throat and drinking a lot of water.
“You okay?” Nikki asked. I nodded as the cool water soothed my raspy throat. “That was amazing! I can’t believe it! The first time we’ve ever played in front of a crowd and they actually liked us!” She said.
“That’s the first time you’ve ever played for a crowd?” Andy’s voice came from behind me.
“Eavesdropping isn’t nice.” I said. “But yes, if you must know, that was the first time we’ve ever played for anyone other than our families.” I nodded, tossing my water bottle in the trash and grabbing another one.
“Well, we must be going.” He said, grinning.
“Good luck. Kill them out there.” I said, smiling. He laughed as they got on stage. I screamed and danced with the rest of the girls. When the concert was done, as we were packing up to leave, BVB came out. Their van had been loaded by their bodyguards.
“Hey, you guys wanna catch a bite to eat at Chili’s with us?” Andy asked. I glanced over at everyone.
“Sure, why not.” I answered, shrugging. I climbed onto my bike and followed their cars out to Chili’s. The place was packed, but we were with BVB, so we would probably get a table.
They were waiting outside for us with one of the buzzer things. I chuckled as I walked up to them and sat on the ground.
“Um, that is so unsanitary.” Some girl said as she passed me.
“Um, I don’t care.” I replied. She rolled her eyes and scoffed at me before she walked inside.
“Kat, that is why you have so many enemies,” Cassie said. I shrugged. “You’re so hard to get along with!” She exclaimed.
“I tell the TRUTH, Cassie. If people can’t handle it, then that’s their problem, not mine.” I hissed.
