Jonas Brothers

“The Jonas Brothers are coming to our school.” I had heard the rumor spreading around school like a wildfire. So what, they were just like us. They were coming to get an education, just like us.

Hi, my name is Samantha Carter, but people call me Sam. I wasn’t popular. I didn’t have a boyfriend, though I’ll admit, I was kind of pretty. I have golden blonde hair with light blonde highlights. I wasn’t fat or chubby. I was pretty average. I got A’s and B’s in school.

“Here they come!” I heard the squeals. I saw the limo pull up.

“I don’t get why everyone is all excited about them.” I said to my friend, Taylor.

“Yeah, me either.” She said.

“Oh my gosh, there they are!” More squeals. I saw them walk up. They were pretty cute. They were waving at everyone like it was a concert. I was talking Taylor when someone knocked into me.

“Oops, sorry.” Jessie, the popular girl, said, even though she didn’t mean it. I got down on my knees to pick up my books, which I had been holding up to my stomach.

“That wasn’t very nice.” I heard a male’s voice as someone went to help me. I looked up. It was Joe Jonas.

“Yeah, well, that’s Jessie for you. I’m Sam.” I said, getting up. I held my hand out.

“Joe, nice to meet you.” He said, shaking my hand.

“You too.” I said.

“Come on, Joe.” Nick said. He rolled his eyes and followed his brothers. I laughed.

“Well, we should get to class.” I said. Taylor nodded and followed me to our lockers. It turns out the Jonas Brothers’ lockers were right next to mine and Taylor’s.

“Well, we meet again.” I said in deep voice. We laughed.

“This is Nick and Kevin. Guys, this is Sam.” Joe said.

“Nice to meet you guys.” I said.

“This is my friend, Taylor.” I said. She smiled.

“You guys seem different.” Nick said.

“Yeah, well, we aren’t popular, we get almost perfect grades, we don’t have any other friends, and we don’t wear makeup. So we are definitely different.” I said, grabbing my history book.

“That’s not how I meant it. I meant that you guys are the only girls who aren’t all over us.” Nick said.

“Oh, I knew that.” I said.  They laughed.

“What do you guys have first? Taylor and I have history.” I said.

“We have history also. They put us on the same schedule. The thought we would want to stay together.” Joe said.

“Ah. Now you never get a break from each other. You will go insane, mwah ha ha ha ha.” I said.

“Oh, look, the losers are actually talking to someone that’s popular.” Jessie said. I shook my head and Taylor and I stalked off towards the history classroom. I heard footsteps behind me. I turned. The Jonas brothers were following us.

“Stalkers.” I muttered. They laughed and I smiled.

“We have some new students, Joe, Nick, and Kevin.” The teacher said.

“Sam, can I see you after class?” The teacher, Mr. Jones said. I nodded and took my usual seat next to Taylor. After class was done, I walked up to Mr. Jones’ desk.

“I want you and Taylor to stay with them and show them around. The principal put them on the same schedules as you guys.” He said. I nodded.

It was finally lunch time. I got my lunch and sat down at the usual table. The JBs followed Taylor and me.

“Once again, I say stalkers.” I said. Taylor laughed and I dug into my food.

“It’s not exactly good, but it’s the best they can make.” I said to them. They laughed and ate.

“Why sit with those losers when you can sit with me?” Jessie came up to our table.

“Because they’re not falling head over heels for us.” Joe said.

“I’m not either; I’m just inviting you to your rightful place at the popular table.” She said, glaring at Taylor and me.

“Well, we decline our rightful place.” Kevin said.

“He speaks!” I said jokingly. She flipped her brown hair and walked back to her table. They rolled their eyes. The lunch bell rang and we put our trays in the garbage. Taylor and I knew that we only had two minutes to get to class, so we ran, the JBs following us. We opened our lockers and grabbed our books. We only had one minute and our class was on the other side of the building. We looked at them and sprinted, them running after us. We made it to the classroom with three seconds to spare, out of breath and panting. We sat down and the science lecture began. The class took out their notebooks to take notes as the teacher, Ms. Dalzell, wrote the notes down on the board.

Next, we had gym. We went into the locker rooms to change. I pulled on my knee length shorts. I didn’t like my knees. I put on my shirt and ran out with Taylor. We sat down in the bleachers as the rest of the girls and boys ran out of their separate locker rooms. We were playing soccer today. YAY! Taylor and I were both on the soccer team. We got put on the same team, with the JBs and we began. The team knew to let us do most of the playing. Taylor and I separated to separate sides of the team. I had the ball. An opponent came at me, so I passed the ball through the team to Taylor. We were running. She did a slide kick to me and I shot and scored. We won that day in gym.

Taylor and I were waiting for the JBs to get out of the locker room. They finally came out.

“Nice playing.” Joe said.

“Hey Sam, hey Taylor, that was really good.” My friend, Ashley said.

“Guys this is our one other friend, Ashley.” I introduced them. They exchanged a few greetings and we were off. Ashley was walking next to us until she had to turn to go to her locker.

It was finally the end of the day.

“Is your limo going to pick you up?”  I asked them.

“No, we decided to walk home.” Kevin said. I nodded. Taylor and I usually walked home together except on the rare occasion that one of her parents gave her a ride. That wasn’t one of those occasions. Ashley sometimes walks with us. She did. We all walked together, me, Ashley, Taylor and the JBs. Their house was a few houses down from mine. Taylor was my next door neighbor, Ashley lived across the street. I walked into my house.

“Mom, I’m home.”

“Hi honey, how was school today?” My mom asked.

“It was good. I became friends with the Jonas Brothers. They live right down the street from us.” I said happily.

“That’s good.” She replied.

“I’m going to do my homework in my room.” I said.

“Okay, I’ll be up here working.” She said. I walked downstairs. After I was done with my homework, Taylor walked over to my house.

“Hey do you want to go mini-golfing?” she asked.

“Sure, want to invite Ashley and the JBs?” I asked her back.
“Why not.” She shrugged and I ran across the street with her after telling my mom. I got Ashley and Taylor got the JBs. We met up.

“We can walk. The mini-golf course isn’t too far away.” I said. They all nodded and we walked off, talking and laughing along the way.

When we were done, we went to walk home, but it was raining. Taylor, Ashley and I sighed and trudged out into the rain. The JBs caught up with us. I looked up at the sky, then looked sharply at Taylor and Ashley, who also noticed the sky turning greenish, yellowish.

“Crud, hurry, a hurricane is forming.” I said to the JBs. We started running. The wind picked up. I ran faster. We stopped at the JBs house and ran to ours. I got in and ran downstairs to our hurricane shelter. Living where we are, every house has one. My mom was already in there. I sat down until the wind wasn’t howling anymore and the house had stopped creaking. I carefully walked up the cement steps and opened the door in the floor. There was no more hurricane and the sun was shining brightly through the windows. I sighed and walked out of the door. The damage was pretty bad. I sighed and started cleaning up. Everybody on the block followed my example. A few hours later, the street was clean.
