Fang’s Sister

Here I was, Fang’s sister, even though we hadn’t seen each other in forever. They had all left about four years ago, when Fang and I were ten. I’m fourteen now, and I was getting out today. I waited for the eraser’s breath to go. It was finally gone and I heard a thump. I burst the door down. I had super strength. I was Fang’s twin. I wore black from head to toe. I had completely black hair with blue and red streaks down it. The alarm blared. The erasers came for me. I saw them running down the hall both ways. I made it to the training grounds. I snapped my wings open. An eraser grabbed my ankle and twisted it. I heard a crack as it broke. I yanked it out with a wince. My jet black wings flapped madly as I got away from the horrid place I called the school. I was flying when it happened.

I heard a gunshot and felt a searing pain in my wing. I shrieked and started falling. I landed roughly in someone’s arms. My head whipped around and my streaked hair flew across my face. I blacked out. I woke up on a hard floor.

“Who’s there?” I called. One thing the school has always taught me is to always be cautious.

“None of your business.” I heard a gruff voice and smiled. Fang.

“Fang, you’re okay.” I said as I got up. Recognition passed across his face.

“Sam.” Fang breathed. I ran over to him and hugged him, careful not to crush him.

“Fang, who is that?” A girl’s voice, about my age, asked.

“Max, this is my sister, Sam.” Max gaped at him. I smiled as I pulled away from Fang.

“Morning Fang, who is that?” I saw as blonde girl get up from sleeping next to an African American girl. A black dog got up with her.

“Hi, I’m Sam, and I’m Fang’s sister.” I said, smiling down at the little girl. She got a look of concentration.

“She doesn’t have anything evil in her mind.” The girl said.

“I’m Angel. This is Max, Gazzy, Iggy, and Nudge.” Angel said. I smiled at them.

“I’m Sam, I’m Fang’s sister.” I said.

“My name is Total.” The dog said.

I gaped at him.

“Did that dog just talk?” I asked in awe.

“Yes, we got him at the institute.” Angel said. I nodded.

“How long are you staying?” Max asked. She was asking me.

“I guess I’ll stay for a while.” I said. Fang’s eyes twinkled. I pulled my ipod out of my pocked and put one earphone in. I put it on shuffle and put it back in my pocket. The flock was staring at me.

“What?” I asked.

“Where did you get that?” Fang asked me.

“I took it when I was first on the run.” I said, bobbing my head to the music. Iggy went to start dinner. I leaned against the cold stone wall. Fang sat down beside me and put the other earphone in his ear.

“You always had the best taste in music.” He said. We started singing along to Paralyzer. The flock all looked at me, including Fang.

“What?” I asked.

“Your singing voice is amazing.” Iggy said in awe.

“Thank you.” I said.

“Sam, you just put your brother and the flock in danger.” I heard a snarling. I stood up.

“Ari, you just killed yourself.” I snarled back. I leaped at him. He stumbled back and we fell off the cliff, grappling with each other. I started punching his face. I felt his nose break under my strong hits. I looked down. The ground was coming up fast. I did a graceful flip off of Ari and landed gracefully on my feet. Ari landed on his back. He shrieked. I put my black skater shoe on his neck and got right in his face.

“What are you going to do now?” I snarled.

“Go away and stop bothering you.” Ari whimpered.

“Good answer.” I let him up. He scrambled to his feet and ran. I snapped my wings open and flew back up the cliff. The flock was staring at me in awe.

“Why is everyone staring at me? Even Iggy is!” I said.

“Why was Ari afraid of you?” Max countered.

“I’ve killed him so many times that I can’t even count anymore.” I sighed and looked down. When I looked back up, everyone was still staring at me in awe, but Fang was proudly looking at me. He knew about my super strength.

“I have super strength.” I said.

“Prove it.” Gazzy said back. I sighed and walked to the cave. I punched the inside wall and it left a huge indentation. Fang walked up to me and I hugged him again.

“So, what’s up with Max and Fang?” I asked the flock.

“Nothing!” Max shrieked, though she was blushing.

“They like each other even though they won’t admit it.” Iggy said.

“Fang, you have got to make the first move, now or I swear I’m going to punch your face in repeatedly.” I threatened. He backed away from me.

“Fine, but give us some room.” He said. I nodded and the flock went out of the cave. I looked into the cave. I gasped. Fang and Max were kissing, holding hands. I beckoned to the others. The gasped also. They pulled apart and looked towards the entrance.

“You guys can come in now.” Fang said, looking straight at me. I sighed and hung my head. We all walked in like this. I was smiling, but my hair was covering my face. Suddenly, I heard a whizzing sound. I turned around and let the tranquilizer dart bounce off of my neck. My skin was indestructible. I picked up the dart and crushed it in my hand. I was mad. They were after me, again. Fang walked up behind me and put his hand on my shoulder. I took some deep breaths. I heard some more whizzes. I motioned for the others to get behind me. The darts bounced off of my body. I growled as more darts came in through the cave entrance.

“They’re not working, Jeb.” I heard a growl. Jeb and Ari came to the entrance. They saw me and backed away in pure fear.

“Yeah, Jeb, that’s right, stay away from me. Leave this flock alone, and leave me alone. Leave their families alone and you won’t die.” I snarled. Fang, Max, and Iggy came to stand by me. Air stepped up so that his face was only a centimeter from mine.

“Have you ever heard of something called brushing your teeth?” I asked.

“I can take you.” Ari said.

“Okay, let’s go then.” I said. We squared up to each other. Ari lunged first. I dodged out of his way. He landed on his stomach with an oof. I laughed and put my black skater shoe on his back and shoved down. He squealed. I kicked his neck and his breath stopped. I looked up at Jeb. He grabbed Ari’s limp body and ran.

“Okay, that’s like the thirty millionth time I’ve killed him. We should get out of here.” I said. The others nodded and grabbed their packs.

“I need to get some things.” I said, landing at a super Target. I pulled my wings in. I walked to the backpacks. I chose a black and gray camo back pack. I grabbed the necessities and walked toward the hunting knives. I looked down at my old hunting knife. It was dull and useless. I saw the one I wanted. I took it off of the hook to look at it. I pulled out the money that I had stolen from and ATM. I paid for my stuff and dumped it into my backpack. I took my old knife out of its carrier and threw it in the trashcan. I put the new one in and pulled my backpack over my shoulder. We flew off. We stopped in a national park for the night.

“I’ll take first watch.” I offered. The others nodded and did a stacking fists thing before lying down. Iggy came to sit by me.

“Hey.” I said.

“What do you look like?” Iggy asked.

“I look like a girl version of Fang, except cuter.” I said. He nodded. I was leaning against tree, sharpening my knife with a sharp stone that I had found on the ground.

“Huh, another Fang, oh no!” Iggy groaned.

“Hey, I’m so much more different than my idiot brother.” I said with a laugh.

“That’s good, because one Fang is enough.” Iggy said, also laughing.
